YOUR FUTURE RESTS MORE ON WHAT YOU DO THAN WHO YOU ARE

I think most of us fail to realize the impact of small things on our destiny. We think we need grand ideas or inspiration to achieve great things, but what if it really depends on those small and consistent things we do each and every day. College is certainly a laboratory or testing ground for this. Success in a course, does indeed need big successes on tests or assignments. But backing up a bit, this is achieved by the habits we do daily and/ or regularly while moving towards these bigger items. Our study, our showing up in class, and even our attitude - focusing on learning and not simply grades - all of these create a trajectory for success - first in a course; then ultimately in life. ACTION : Ask yourself what are the habits that you have that help you succeed? that hinder your success? What habits are you missing to create the success you want today and the life you want tomorrow?

Most students enter college with education fatigue ; going thru the motions without really pausing long enough to ask themselves, "Why?" Once you reach college, the burden of learning is no longer with the teacher, it is with you, the student. And if you haven't figured out your why ; then the how can be difficult to maintain. ACTION : Ask yourself, "Why are you here?" Give yourself enough pause/ time to see what comes up. Are you surprised or maybe even scared by your answer? But don't despair, even if some ultimate career or life dream does not appear yet, some questions are meant to be asked more than answered. That by merely asking ourselves a question, creates a movement that maybe, just maybe, will allow us to live into the answer. Hopefully one thing will come forth, that you are NOT here to get a grade; instead you are here to LEARN
